Planting paddy

Farmers at a paddy field at Kathiatoli, 32 km from Nagaon, Assam on July 27, 2009. All 27 districts of the state have been declared as agricultural drought hit since there was 34 per cent less rainfall this year compared to the same period last year, Agriculture Minister Pramila Rani Brahma said. Due to deficit rainfall during the monsoon period of June 1 to July 22, a total of 13 lakh hectare of cropland have been affected.
