Bol India Bol experience
Kuch to bol! Reliance Communications

I still remember that I had my first mobile phone connection done in just one rupee. Reliance had offered connections at one rupee to lure customers. That time all my friends, relatives, neighbours had a Reliance connection. Today, Reliance Communications, or RCOM as it is known now, probably has the largest network coverage area in the Northeast. But as far as the service is concerned it will be wise not to comment anything because the customer care people here are always busy attending calls.

Few months back I was using the Bol India Bol plan of Reliance because the outgoing calls were free to any Reliance customer for around a month in just Rs349. In fact all my friends had Reliance connection and some of them are still using the connection and the plan till date.

When Reliance for the first time came up with the Bol India Bol plan, every day you would find a long queue in front of the customer care centers. And as time passed people started withdrawing their connection and opted for something new. The main reason for this was bad service. Often when one talks over the phone he/she will surely undergo massive cross connections, bad network and so on.

Once when I was talking over the phone with a friend of mine, suddenly I heard a girl crying. For a while I kept wondering why my friend was crying. I was trying to figure out what exactly happened out of a sudden. I tried my best to recall my words and before I could ask anything I heard a male’s voice. The man was consoling the girl. It is then I realised that a crossconnection happened and I decided to hang the phone and call back my friend again. If I would have continued to speak the people who were speaking would have undergone a huge confusion.

A similar kind of incident happened to me again when I was over talking over the phone. I kept on speaking and suddenly I hear a man’s voice telling me, “Excuse me I’m not getting your words properly can you please repeat what you were talking about.” I was stunned and immediately I hung the phone. For a while I was feeling really scared and was pondering to whom I might have spoken to? Such experiences are very common if you are a Reliance customer.

Its fun to hear other people’s conversation at times but it is not good to make it a regular practice. Always be careful about letting your secrets out especially when you are using a reliance connection because some else might also be listing to you. It takes only few minutes to reveal the secrets because this is a small world and anything can happen.

The Northeast Vigil website ran from 1999 to 2009. It is not operated or maintained anymore. It has been put up here solely for archival sentiments.

Parts of the old website, especially the extremely popular dams issue, have been resurrected. Other archived material will be uploaded here as and when I am able to salvage those. If at all.
